CURRENT STEP UP INITIATIVES
You know that eating more Georgia produce may help your body, but did you know it could also help the environment? Step UP Emory’s nutrition initiative, “A Healthy Body, A Healthy Earth,” focuses on increasing consumption of vegetables, fruits and whole grains, as well as choosing sustainable foods whenever possible. According to experts, giving your body real food gives you more energy throughout the day, boosts the body’s immune system and helps repair damage to your muscles. But there’s more. By becoming more sustainable in your food choices, you can help support local economies and communities, and decrease the need for long-distance transport, which helps the Earth. Throughout the months of July and August, Step UP Emory will be hosting and supporting events that focus on an increase in vegetables, fruits and whole grains, as well as promote sustainable food choices.
